LVAIC sponsored a one-day workshop for the professional development of academic department chairs. This highly interactive day focused on two critical themes challenging academic leadership at the time.
Hiring and Evaluation
Hiring and evaluation were two of the highest-risk activities in which academic leaders engaged. This portion of the day focused on supervisory best practices, legal compliance, and effective tools for hiring and evaluation.
Conflict Management
The second portion of the workshop focused on managing and resolving departmental conflict and dysfunction. Participants were engaged in identifying and implementing creative, practical, and accessible communication and conflict management tools.
The featured presenter was Kathleen Rinehart J.D., General Counsel and Secretary of the Corporation at St. Xavier University and Principal at Conflict Consultants Network.
