Each spring, this popular LVAIC program showcases the Lehigh Valley region and four of Pennsylvania’s nationally recognized private colleges and universities to approximately 100 school counselors and independent educational consultants from across the nation. The three-day tour is coordinated directly with the Undergraduate Admissions offices at Cedar Crest College, Lafayette College, Moravian College, and Muhlenberg College. Counselors spend a half day experiencing each campus, meeting with students, faculty, and administrators, and discovering the distinctive offerings of LVAIC’s liberal arts colleges. In addition to seeing firsthand the distinctive strengths of each individual campus, counselors learn about college life in the Lehigh Valley, the value of the liberal arts experience, and the expanded student opportunities offered through the consortium. The Lehigh Valley tour is lauded by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors as one of the most respected in the country.

Request to Join the 2020 Counselor Tour: We are accepting requests until December 1.
Interested in future tours but unable to attend in 2020? Join the Counselor Tour Interest List
Each tour session accommodates approximately 50 participants. To allow for the broadest possible participation in the tours, attendance is generally limited to one counselor per school/district. For this reason, each counselor is strongly encouraged to verify that he/she is the only registrant from a school/district prior to submitting a registration request. Once all spaces have been filled, counselors will be placed on our waiting list. Should we receive cancellations, you will be notified and extended an invitation to participate. A $75 fee is required of each counselor upon commitment to attend.
The program formally opens on Monday at 12:00 p.m. with registration and the opening reception and closes by noon on Wednesday. Among the many highlights is a networking reception on Monday featuring institutional admissions representatives, as well as the opportunity to explore the main downtown areas throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Counselors are lodged at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, located in beautiful downtown Bethlehem, in the heart of the Lehigh Valley. Each of the LVAIC campuses is only 5 to 20 minutes away by bus. Counselors are housed in double rooms at no cost, with the option to upgrade to a single room for a fee.
Bus transportation is provided throughout the duration of the tour. Travel to and from the tour is the responsibility of the counselor; however, please contact us at 610.625.7888 for questions about directions, or about transportation to and from local airports. A shuttle bus is available to and from the Hotel Bethlehem and from Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE); for more information, please contact the Hotel directly. View driving directions to the hotel if travelling by personal vehicle.
Counselor Tour FAQs
Counselors may join the Counselor Tour Interest List at any time. Formal requests to participate become available in early fall, and counselors are typically notified of their participation status by December. Requests for the 2017 tours are no longer being accepted.

Counselors attending the tour are responsible for their own travel to and from the Lehigh Valley. The nearest local airport to LVAIC schools (and the Hotel Bethlehem, where counselors are lodged) is the Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). About a ten minute drive from the hotel, counselors who wish to request transportation via hotel shuttle should contact the Hotel Bethlehem directly. Other area airports include the Philadelphia (about an hour’s drive) and Newark (about an hour and fifteen) airports; however, transportation will not be provided to and from these locations.
Driving directions are available for counselors who plan on driving to Bethlehem. The Hotel Bethlehem is a short distance from Rts. 78 and 22.
Our program begins on Sunday night at 5:00pm for registration. Please plan your transportation to accommodate time to arrive, check in to the hotel, and register with our staff.
Please also note that our program ends back at the hotel on Wednesday at approximately noon. In order to give each school their full scheduled time, we ask that ALL counselors remain with group on the tour bus for all three days of the tour. This means that your return flight should leave late enough to accommodate the schedule on Wednesday.
