Bridging the Gap: Owning Our Stories, Hearing Our Voices
September 17, 2016
The LVAIC Coalition of Diversity Administrators invites proposals for concurrent workshops to be presented at the annual Bridging the Gap Conference on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
This year’s conference theme is “Owning Our Stories; Hearing Our Voices.” We are interested in helping students from diverse backgrounds thrive academically and socially by exploring and giving voice to themes of intersectionality and identity development.
Please complete this form no later than Monday, August 8 at 8 am.
At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Explain their roles as active leaders for cultural change within their institutions and in society.
- Increase awareness of the intersectionality of identity and diversity on campus.
- Develop additional skills to negotiate systems of privilege and oppression.
Breakout session should be 60 minutes in length. Ideally, the session will be interactive (i.e. questions can be asked throughout the presentation), but there should at least be a 10-15 minute opportunity for Q&A at the end.
