Dear Friend,

Thank you for the support you have shown over the years by attending Vietnam War Commemoration Ceremonies and other veteran and military events throughout the Lehigh Valley. Whether you are a Vietnam veteran, a family member of someone who served, or a member of our broader military and veteran community, your presence has helped make these gatherings meaningful moments of recognition and gratitude. We would be honored to welcome you again as we come together at DeSales University to recognize the service and sacrifice of Vietnam-era veterans and offer a heartfelt “Thank You” and “Welcome Home.”

This annual ceremony brings together veterans, families, students, and community members to recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who served during the Vietnam War. DeSales University is proud to be an official Commemorative Partner of the Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration, and the DeSales Office of Veterans and Military Services has been recognized as one of the top-performing commemorative partners in the country for its commitment to honoring Vietnam veterans.

This year’s program will feature Vietnam War Army Veteran Richard Burton, who served in Airborne and Special Forces, as our guest speaker.

The ceremony will also include:

  • Recognition of Vietnam War–era veterans in attendance
  • A “Welcome Home” tribute offered on behalf of a grateful nation
  • A pop-up mini museum exhibit featuring Vietnam War memorabilia and official commemorative posters
  • Participation from community partners including the Southern Lehigh High School Band, Fleet Reserve Association Black Diamond Branch #115, John Rivers Memorial VFW Post #11322, Egypt VFW Post #7293, Louis E. Dieruff High School Air Force JROTC, Lehigh Valley Sea Cadets, Student Veterans of America – DeSales Chapter, the Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council, Military Order of the Purple Heart Post #190, and Tails of Honor

Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity for fellowship and conversation with fellow veterans, families, and community members.

If you know a Vietnam War–era veteran, we especially encourage you to invite them to attend. While the event is free and open to the public, registration is encouraged so that Vietnam veterans and their families can be formally recognized during the ceremony.

We hope you will join us as we gather in gratitude to honor their service and ensure their legacy continues to be remembered.

With appreciation,
Wendy Badman,
