LVAIC Africa Day Symposium

Students, faculty, staff from all LVAIC institutions (Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Moravian College, Muhlenberg College) and members of the public are invited to participate in the inaugural LVAIC Africa Day Symposium. The theme for the symposium is “Africa is the Future.” Students and faculty members interested in presenting a paper addressing the symposium theme are invited to submit a proposal by Friday, 3 March 2017 (see below).
In addition to the separate student and faculty panels, the agenda for the symposium include a keynote address by Dr. Siba Grovogui, Professor of International Relations, Law and Theory at Cornell University, as well as a post-symposium reception with an African band.
Registration is FREE. Individuals interested in attending the symposium are requested to register no later than Friday, 31 March 2017.
A Pre-symposium event will be hosted by Lehigh University on Thursday, 6 April. (Please contact Dr. Bruce Whitehouse, firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information about the pre-symposium event.) The event will include:
- 4:10 pm – “Taking on Fortress Europe: African Perspectives on Migration,” a panel discussion with Isaie Dougnon, Julie Kleinman and Dinah Hannaford. Location: STEPS Building, 1 West Packer Avenue, Room 101
- 7:30 pm – “Wallah Je Te Jure”, a film screening and discussion with panelists. Location: Williams Hall, 31 Williams Drive, Roemmele Global Commons (1st floor)
