GDPR Seminar Sets LVAIC Campus Policies Ahead of Changing Laws
March 30, 2018, @ 8:00 AM

Keith Hartranft, CISO at Lehigh University, offers a presentation to staff from the LVAIC community regarding General Data Protection Regulations.
The General Data Protection Regulation was created in the European Union and recently passed through Parliament. It will begin being enforced on May 25, 2018; the LVAIC campuses must be aware of what requirements follow this regulation, as they have employees and students who work in the EU, as well as employees and students studying at our schools who are from the EU.
In light of this transition, LVAIC hosted over 30 staff from 8 colleges and universities at a seminar on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the STEPS Building at Lehigh University with the goal of educating staff members whose roles will be affected by this regulation.
This is a topic that affects all of the LVAIC schools; however, there is very little knowledge among staff regarding what they are required to do to abide by the regulation. Through collaboration, this event was able to educate many people from many different departments of several colleges and universities on where to begin to abide with the regulations set by GDPR.
Those who work with international students or data privacy can contact Katy Thomas at LVAIC (thomask@lvaic.org) or Keith Hartranft, CISO at Lehigh University to learn more information on the presentation and GDPR or visit the GDPR website here.
