The Condition of Education: Re-establishing Connections with Multilingual Learners

Lehigh University International Center for Academic and Professional English is excited to announce that the 2nd Annual Multilingual Education Conference will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Focusing on moving forward post-pandemic, the theme for this year’s conference is The Condition of Education: Re-establishing Connections with Multilingual Learners. This practice-oriented conference is open to all educators and other specialists who provide instruction and support to multilingual students and their families. Participants may earn four Act 48 Continuing Professional Education credits. This in-person event will follow Lehigh University COVID safety protocol.
To register for the conference as an attendee or as a vendor, please visit the conference registration link. Conference fees include continental breakfast, lunch, parking, and Act 48 fees if applicable. Conference presenters are invited to register with reduced registration fees.
They are still open to proposals for 50-minute, practice oriented sessions. Preference will be given to proposals based on current research in the best practices of multilingual education. Suggested topics may include:
- Lessons learned: keeping students connected
- Moving forward: re-shaping multilingual education
- Best practices of equitable instruction in multilingual classrooms
- Linguistic rights and social justice
- Post-pandemic learner deficits and strategies to address them
- Supporting multilingual students through research process across the disciplines
- Translanguaging (practices in writing classroom, bias, multimodal writing)
- Technology for fostering an equitable classroom

Please submit your proposal by August 31, 2021, at 11:59 pm through this Google Form. A selection committee will review the proposals and notify you of the committee’s decisions.
