Lehigh Valley Counselors Tour Brings Professionals from Around the World to LVAIC Campuses
March 19, 2018, @ 8:00 AM
The Lehigh Valley Counselors Tour has been in existence for over 35 years, in which time it has grown to host over 100 independent and high school counselors from across the country, as well as around the globe, for 4 days in the Lehigh Valley. This year’s tours will take place from Sunday, April 8th – Wednesday, April 11th and Sunday, April 22nd – Wednesday, April 25th.
This program showcases the LVAIC campuses with half-day tours and information sessions at each school followed by evening gatherings with the Admissions and Enrollment staffs from the colleges and universities.
Counselors arrive on a Sunday evening for a networking and welcome reception with representatives from each Admissions Office at the Hotel Bethlehem, where they stay for the duration of their visit. Each week, one campus sends an A Capella group to perform as entertainment on Sunday evening before counselors are welcomed to continue networking. Monday through Wednesday they embark on tours of each campus, spending four hours with each school community. Campus visits include tours, information sessions with faculty, staff, and students, and breakout sessions on different topics specific to each school. Monday evening is concluded with a panel discussion with vice presidents from each campus regarding different “hot topics” in higher education. These include a Working with Generation Z, the Cost of Higher Education and Financial Aid, the Balance Between Liberal Arts and Pre-professional Education, and more.
Given the diversity and unique aspects of each LVAIC campus, counselors receive a complete picture of what Lehigh Valley higher education has to offer their students: private, liberal arts studies with specialized programs at each institution.
