Lehigh Valley Presidents Bring Concerns to Congress

On Thursday, August 31, 2017 the presidents of Cedar Crest College, Lafayette College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Pennsylvania State University – Lehigh Valley, Moravian College, and Muhlenberg College gathered at Muhlenberg College to meet with Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., (D – PA) to discuss issues currently affecting higher education.
In particular, this group met to discuss international students and immigration concerns and Pell Grant funding. This meeting led to a productive conversation about next steps the Lehigh Valley colleges can take to advocate for their stance on these issues and raise awareness regarding these topics throughout the local community.
The Lehigh Valley presidents typically meet on a semi-annual basis including the presidents of Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Lehigh University, Northampton Community College, Pennsylvania State University – Lehigh Valley, Moravian College, and Muhlenberg College. These campus leaders discuss issues that resonate across their campuses, as well as share best practices and collaborative ideas.
This group exemplifies the spirit of collaboration that drives the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges.
