LVAIC Student Affairs Professional Development Series Integrates Goals of Campuses and Consortium
October 16, 2017, @ 8:00 AM
In light of its strategic goal of expanded faculty and staff capabilities, LVAIC is presenting a new series on professional development focused on student affairs professionals. This series seeks to provide an opportunity for the student affairs staff from across the LVAIC community to come together to explore topics pertinent to their work and to network with their peers. Over the course of four (quarterly) sessions, this series delves into topics for presentation based on current trends and needs impacting student affairs professionals.
The program seeks to accomplish goals in each of the following:
- Explore topics and challenges impacting student affairs professionals;
- Generate best practice recommendations for the LVAIC community; and
- Foster collaborative relationships with student affairs staff from across LVAIC campuses.
The first session took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Moravian College where Nicole Loyd, Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students of Moravian College, offered a presentation on Generation Z. This lecture offered student affairs professionals a chance to learn more about the upcoming generation of traditional college students, the challenges to working with and communicating with this new generation, and understanding the needs of this cohort. The presentation was followed by a networking mixer where attendees from across the LVAIC community had the opportunity to share best practices, ask questions, and share strategies for approaching the next generation of college students.
