October 5, 2018, @ 10:15 AM

The LVAIC Student Affairs Professional Development Series is continuing this year with an event on the needs of future college students from a panel of high school counselors on October 18, 2018 at DeSales University.
In an effort to continually improve the capabilities of member faculty and staff, LVAIC facilitates professional development events and programs throughout the academic year. In the spirit of maximizing resources by creating shared development opportunities, LVAIC is continuing its series on student affairs professional development again this year.
The first event in this series is taking place on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at DeSales University. The focus of this program is the future college student, utilizing a panel of high school counselors from across the Lehigh Valley. The panel will speak to current issues and challenges facing the next generation of college students. The goal for this event is to prepare LVAIC’s student affairs staff with the understanding and tools needed for productive planning for the future college student.
Recognizing the current trends in the increasing demands on student affairs to mentor, guide, and nurture the overall student, these types of development experiences are geared toward understanding and mitigating these challenges.
This event will also include a networking reception after the completion of the panel. This is open to all members of the LVAIC student affairs community, and allows individuals to connect with their peers across the Lehigh Valley to share best practices, learn together, and collaborate effectively. As people connect across LVAIC and develop a communities of practice, they create allies in the ongoing changes that face higher education and student affairs. Both through formal group formation and through informal conversations, these connections further LVAIC’s mission of collaborating the strengthen the individual campus communities.
This series will consist of four total professional development events through June 2019. Individuals interested in attending or learning more about this event and this series can learn more on the Student Affairs Professional Development event page on the LVAIC website.
